About
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers was a membership organization that brought together foundations, corporate giving programs, and other funders to strengthen and advance philanthropy across New Mexico. Serving as a hub for the state's grantmaking community, it provided resources, networking, and support designed to improve the practice and impact of philanthropy in the state.
The association connected grantmakers with one another, fostering collaboration, the sharing of knowledge, and coordinated approaches to addressing community needs. By bringing funders together, it helped build relationships and partnerships that could increase the effectiveness of philanthropic investment in New Mexico.
The organization provided educational programs, resources, and support to help grantmakers improve their practices and stay informed about emerging issues and best practices in philanthropy. These efforts helped funders make more informed and effective decisions in their grantmaking, ultimately benefiting the nonprofits and communities they support.
The association also worked to promote philanthropy and to represent the interests and perspectives of the grantmaking community in broader discussions about the social sector and community needs. By raising awareness of philanthropy's role and contributions, it helped strengthen the environment for charitable giving in the state.
Philanthropy plays an important role in supporting the nonprofit sector and addressing community needs in New Mexico, and a strong, connected grantmaking community contributes to more effective and strategic giving. By supporting funders, the association indirectly strengthened the many organizations and causes that depend on philanthropic support.
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers became part of Groundworks New Mexico, joining with nonprofit capacity-building efforts under a unified organization that serves both funders and nonprofits. Through its work bringing grantmakers together and supporting effective philanthropy, the association contributed to a stronger and more collaborative philanthropic and social sector across New Mexico.
