Providing housing and compassionate support services to youth, adults, and families experiencing housing instability in northern New Mexico.
About
DreamTree Project is a Taos-based nonprofit that provides shelter and supportive services to youth experiencing homelessness in northern New Mexico. The organization works to ensure that young people facing housing instability have a safe place to stay and the support they need to move toward stability and a more hopeful future.
DreamTree operates an emergency youth shelter that provides a safe haven for young people who have nowhere else to go, offering them shelter, food, and basic necessities. The organization also provides transitional living programs that help older youth and young adults develop the skills and stability needed to live independently, bridging the gap between crisis and self-sufficiency.
The organization serves runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth, populations that are especially vulnerable and often underserved. Young people experiencing homelessness face significant dangers and challenges, and DreamTree works to meet their immediate needs while helping them address the circumstances that led to their housing instability. Case management, counseling, and connections to education and employment support help young people build a path forward.
DreamTree also works to support family reunification when appropriate and safe, and to help youth develop the life skills, education, and resources they need to succeed. Its programs are designed to address the whole young person, recognizing that lasting stability requires more than just a place to sleep.
Youth homelessness is a serious issue, and in rural areas like northern New Mexico, resources for homeless young people can be especially scarce. DreamTree Project fills a critical gap, providing services that might otherwise be unavailable to vulnerable youth in the region.
Supported by grants, donations, and community support, DreamTree Project serves young people in Taos and the surrounding area. Through its shelter, transitional living programs, and supportive services, the organization works to help homeless and at-risk youth find safety, stability, and the opportunity to build better futures.
