Training, consulting, and peer learning for nonprofit leaders across New Mexico to build stronger, more effective organizations.

About

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is a capacity-building initiative that provides training, technical assistance, and resources to strengthen nonprofit organizations in New Mexico. Associated with efforts to support the state's social sector, the center works to help nonprofits operate more effectively, build their skills, and increase their impact in the communities they serve.

The center offers educational programs and training on the many aspects of nonprofit management, including governance, fundraising, financial management, leadership, and compliance. By building the knowledge and skills of nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers, it helps organizations strengthen their operations and better fulfill their missions.

In addition to training, the center provides one-on-one technical assistance, working directly with organizations to address their specific challenges and needs. This individualized support helps nonprofits solve problems, improve their practices, and build the capacity needed to grow and sustain their work.

The center also supports nonprofits in maintaining strong practices around transparency, accountability, and compliance, helping them meet the standards expected of charitable organizations and build trust with funders, donors, and the public. Strong organizational practices are essential to the long-term health and effectiveness of nonprofits.

By strengthening individual organizations, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence contributes to the overall health of New Mexico's nonprofit sector, which provides essential services and community benefit across the state. A stronger sector means more effective organizations better able to serve their communities.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence became part of Groundworks New Mexico, joining with related capacity-building efforts to continue serving the sector under a unified organization. Through its training, technical assistance, and support, the center has worked to build the capacity and effectiveness of nonprofits throughout New Mexico, helping them better serve the people and causes that depend on them and contributing to a stronger social sector statewide.
