Bernalillo County Community Health Council

Imagine a healthy Bernalillo County where everyone has the ability to meet his or her full potential. This vision is shared by many within the community. The Bernalillo County Community Health Council serves as a resource and convener for those organizations, institutions and individuals with a passion for improving the health of all Bernalillo County residents. By setting priorities and bringing people together to work toward a shared plan of action, the Health Council provides support to those responsible for creating the conditions needed for health in the neighborhoods where we live, work, learn and play.

The Bernalillo County Community Health Council is a coalition-building organization that focuses on bringing people together to improve the health of those who live, learn, work, and play in Bernalillo County. The Council has two main collective impact initiatives: Healthy Here (through Presbyterian Healthcare System and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the Opioid Accountability Initiative.

Healthy Here is a project funded by the CDC that focuses on increasing access to healthy food, encouraging active living, and preventing chronic disease in the International District and South Valley areas of Albuquerque.

The Opioid Accountability Initiative is a collective impact initiative that aims to address the opioid overdose epidemic in New Mexico. The Initiative has four main pillars: Prevention, Treatment, Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice, and Naloxone.
